Moonset Over New Mexico

Monday, February 6, 2023

It is a beautiful morning. I am still at Oliver Lee SP in New Mexico. I stayed an extra day. I am so glad I did. Yesterday, after a two-hour morning bike ride, I was treated to a day of warm sunshine and gentle breezes, enabling comfort while sitting out appreciating the sky, the sparse clouds, and the mountainous desert landscape. It was both restful and inspiring, giving me time to collect my wandering thoughts and do some writing.

I also had a long phone call, over an hour, with a friend in Boulder. It was great to catch up about things in our lives, talking at length about all sorts of stuff, some frivolous, some serious, a meandering conversation of our thoughts and hearts. Having a day of rest facilitated that call for sure.

I also walked around the campground and shared thoughts with other travelers. Calvin from Ohio, he’s been traveling five months now, living out of his SUV and enjoying New Mexico at length. Mary and Glen, tent camping with their dogs, driving from Massachusetts on a three-month trip to New Mexico, Arizona, and California, wanting to spend time enjoying the rest of winter in desert with its beauty.

On to today, this morning there was another picturesque moonset over the distant mountains. I was joined for a time by a Cactus Wren, singing a song of the morning.

Every day can bring some magic into your life …
