There are a great many benefits in hiking. One goes for a walk, they often do it for the physical benefit, but there are many levels of engagement and satisfaction when one goes out hiking.

  • It is meditative. It can help bring stillness to your mind and spirit.

  • It is invigorating. It can energize you mentally and emotionally.

  • It is contemplative. It can help inspire your thought process.

  • It is an integration with the natural environment. It can bring Nature into you through all your senses, especially sight, smell, hearing, and touch.

  • It is inspiring. Each of the above, alone or in combination, can bring you to places you had not previously been or even dreamed of.

  • It is social. Walking with a friend and/or meeting other people out hiking adds other dimensions to the experience, building closeness and/or community even if in small walls, sometimes in large ways.

  • It can increase your sense of wonder. There are a multitude of places you can go to hike, each of which can be a tool to literally blow you away with beauty. The beauty you see is a reflection of the beauty within you.

Anyway, I took these photos of flowers on my hike! Quite a bit of life in a dry soil environment!
