It was another beautiful day, though it was on the chilly side this morning due to a strong breeze. The Crystal Forest Trail is just under a mile in length. I wandered slowly, taking about 90 minutes. The petrified logs vary in size and color. Each one looks like a piece of art, placed strategically in the landscape, like someone created a masterpiece environment. I was surprised at how many people were there, however. When I was here with Laura last December, we hardly saw anyone else on the trails. I looked on the park website and learned that October is one of the three busiest months here. After my hike, I had lunch, then did a 31-mile bike ride back to Puerco Pueblo and back, yes, in the wind again, though not as strong as yesterday. I wanted to do another hike, at Blue Mesa, but it would have been rushed, and I felt a need to do some writing, a part of which you are reading now!
